Mobile studio bought by Bethesda

2 min read

In addition to the many PC and console projects, Bethesda Softworks also seems to now target the mobile market. This led to the acquisition of Alpha Dog Games, a mobile-specific studio.

There are some pretty serious projects that will certainly keep Bethesda Softworks staff busy for years to come. DOOM Eternal continues to be polished, with The Elder Scrolls VI in the distance, and the mysterious Starfield. However, there are also smaller fish, for example in the mobile market, which may not have been adequately resourced.

This presumed shortfall could be covered by the acquisition of Alpha Dog Games, which is now able to continue working in Bethesda’s barracks. The tiny development team specializing in mobile games has made games like Wraithborne, Ninja Golf, and MonstroCity Rampage. According to rumors, they will be able to do similar work under their new parent company, but it is not yet known whether they will deal with stand-alone titles or tie-ups with larger projects.

The video game industry is one of the fastest-growing $ 100 billion industry with ever-expanding entertainment and exciting e-sports events. At first glance, video games seem to be making an unstoppable advance.

With mobile games slowly overtaking the industry, at least in terms of ROI, it doesn’t seem that much surprising that Bethesda has decided to purchase a studio for itself. In recent years, titles such as Fallout Shelter or The Elder Scrolls: Blades have been released for mobile. The cooperation that has just been established is likely to bring more mobile games under the umbrella of Bethesda.
