Kaspersky supports the National Cyber Security Professional Awareness Week to build a stronger cyber security workforce

Kaspersky North America announces its support for National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week, organized from November 9 to 14 by the National Cybersecurity Education Initiative, led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Kaspersky joins the mission to raise awareness of cybersecurity opportunities and promote greater diversity in the industry workforce.
CyberSeek says there are currently more than 300,000 cybersecurity jobs open and the national cybersecurity workforce is expected to reach 1.8 million qualified individuals by 2022. In this void that extends to- Beyond technical positions, the Cybersecurity personnel also need roles to manage business operations.
Studies have also shown that the cybersecurity industry is dominated by men, with only 24% of the workforce made up of women. This underrepresentation could indicate that young women are unaware of their careers or fields of study in computer security. These gaps could be filled by local talents when exposed to early career educational resources and by adults when retraining to take on cybersecurity roles.
Kaspersky is sponsoring initiatives during National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week to demonstrate the diversity of roles within the cybersecurity workforce. This includes a partnership with influencer @CodingBlonde, who is hosting a live AMA session with senior researchers from Kaspersky’s global research and analysis team, as well as daily videos from staff discussing their personal experiences with the industry.
“For the cybersecurity industry to function, there are a multitude of high demand professions that many do not associate with the field,” said Rob Cataldo, Managing Director of Kaspersky North America. “Not only do we need a variety of threat investigators, R&D and technical support, we also need accountants, lawyers, communications specialists, business managers, and so on. National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week is a great opportunity to highlight the endless possibilities the industry offers in careers and fields of study. ”
National Cyber Security Career Awareness Week supporters and speakers are committed to participating and hosting events. The special week helps highlight demand and opportunities in the cybersecurity industry, raise awareness of the range of skills required, and highlight the myriad avenues to access a career in the field.
